Massage Therapy

Touch is an instinctual response used throughout history to nurture, calm, relax and even heal, making massage one of the simplest, most natural forms of healing the body.  Massage itself dates back as far as 6000 B.C.  Even with all of our modern technology, we still see the simple art of touch used in all areas of health care and rehabilitation.

Massage covers a wide range of techniques, but all center around releasing "knots" in the major muscle groups.  This release not only allows the muscles to function normally, but also increases mobility, flexibility and blood flow - thus relieving general tension, headaches and muscle fatigue, and naturally speeding up the healing process.  What helps to heal the body can also relax the mind and soothe the soul.

With the growing popularity of health, fitness and personal growth, many people have turned to massage to help maintain their health and well-being.  Massage remains a key step on the path to recovery from musculoskeletal injuries.

HOW MASSAGE AND CHIROPRACTIC WORK TOGETHER

The vertebrae in your spine are surrounded by small and large muscles which provide stability and mobility of the spinal column.  These muscles are often factors in misalignment that can lead to pain in the back and other areas of the body.  As part of the subluxation complex, muscles are stretched and weakened, adding to any pain symptoms you may be experiencing.  Massage therapy brings oxygen rich blood and essential nutrients to the muscle tissue, thereby increasing their elasticity and stimulating the release of toxins.  Deep tissue massage releases the tension of the muscle, reducing the pain and allowing the spine to become realigned.

Deep Tissue Massage therapy alone helps minimize the effects of stress and provide increased circulation, relaxation and enhanced flexibility.  The art of massage and its healing power can also facilitate the correction of spinal misalignment prior to receiving adjustments.  Licensed massage therapists are on staff and are available by appointment.  Although a session may be recommended by your doctor for treatment purposes, no referral from the doctor is necessary.
